Rating If you’re a teacher who’s a fan of graphic organizers, then you will FLIP for this book! Emily Cayuso has put together a sturdy tabletop flip book with 55 activities to support reading comprehension. They can be used before, during, or after class reading—in large groups, small groups, or individually—during guided reading, centers, lit circles, and independent reading.
The table of contents has a key to tell if the activity is for narrative reading or expository reading (or both). Each page is colorfully designed and easy to read with large print. Some organizers you’ll find here are: K-W-L chart, fact vs. opinion, main idea, point of view, author’s purpose, sequencing, timeline, word map, prediction, text-to-self connections, and many more. I like that it helps me to save paper, because I don’t have to photocopy charts and organizers anymore—I just sit the flip book near the chalkboard, and students follow directions and use their own paper to complete the activity.(Posted on 8/17/10)
